About the class

Creating a fun, encouraging space for kids in Miramar and South Wellington to get singing! The Miramar Kids Choir is an non-auditioned choir for kids aged 7-12 led by the inspiring song leader Sharon Yearsley. This choir is a fun and encouraging place for kids to find their voices. Participants learn to sing confidently and beautifully, make friends by working together, and experience the joy of making music in a group. Miramar Kids Choir members sing many kinds of music, including folk songs, pop songs, Māori waiata, and music from around the world, often in different languages. It’s great for a young brain! Singing in the choir also reinforces musical skills, such as staying in time and in tune, reading music, and listening. The Miramar Kids Choir uses the “BLT Sandwich” values: Beauty – learning to control the voice, singing confidently and safely Listening – learning to listen carefully to the group, and singing in tune and in time Together – learning to work respectfully in a group with a shared purpose --- Time: 10:30 - 11:15am every Saturday (during school terms) Place: Miramar North School Hall Teacher: Sharon Level: Ages 7-12.
