The Wellington Music Centre invites you to join a lively evening of traditional Scottish and Irish social dancing, featuring the sensational VicFolk band! This beginner-friendly, all-ages partner dancing event is designed to bring families and the community together for a night of fun, music, and connection, all while supporting the Wellington Music Centre. 💃🕺

👯 Traditional Partner Dancing: Learn and enjoy traditional Scottish and Irish dances, led by the VicFolk caller*, making it perfect for beginners and families.
🎶 Live Music: Dance the night away to the energetic and foot-stomping tunes provided by the sensational VicFolk band.
🎟️ Raffle: Grab a ticket to our raffle for a chance to win fantastic prizes!
🤫 Silent Auction: Bid on unique items and experiences donated by local businesses in our silent auction, including tickets to Roxy cinema, and a family pass to Wēta Workshop, with all proceeds supporting the Wellington Music Centre.
🥤 Food and Drinks: Food and beverages are available for purchase throughout the evening. This is an alcohol-free event.
*the caller leads the band and calls out instructions for the dancers, usually with a good sense of humour! They make sure everyone is having a great time, especially those who have never attended a cèilidh dance before.

A cèilidh is about more than dancing, it’s a place to enjoy time with your family and connect as a community. At Wellington Music Centre, we are passionate about bringing joyful and affordable musical experiences to kids and families in South and East Wellington. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Wellington Music Centre, helping to fund our great programmes, including the Peninsula Family Choir, the Miramar Kids Choir, the Wellington Music Centre Orchestra, our foundational music courses: Music Explorers and the Ukulele Ensemble, and our free twice-a-year community events.
