What to bring:

Students of WMC should bring their instrument/s and all the music they'll need for the day. Music stands will be provided.

Visitors to WMC only need to bring themselves and their voices!

Water bottles are a good idea, as it may be hot!

Venue and Parking

St Patrick's Hall is on the main road in Kilbirnie. There is no parking at the venue, but plenty of on-street parking in surrounding roads. There are also some spaces at the Kilbirnie Recreation Centre.

What will the workshops involve?

  • The WMC Students Workshop involves all of the WMC students making music together! Over the weeks leading up to the workshop, students will learn at least one of three pieces, and on the day we put it all together! Caregivers and whānau are warmly invited to join the music with their voices.

  • The Special Guest Workshop will involve an amazing guest musician leading the whole community in a singing and dancing workshop. Huge smiles and beautiful sounds are guaranteed!

Can I come to both workshops?

Yes! You definitely should!

Bring-a-plate

WMC will be providing some free food, tea and coffee for everyone, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. If you'd like to support the event by bringing some food to share, we'd love that! Sweet or savoury foods are both welcome, just remember to:

  • label your container so it doesn't go missing

  • note down or let us know what ingredients are in your food (especially nuts, eggs, milk, gluten, meat, etc)

  • drop your food at the kitchen when you arrive

  • pick up your container when you leave!

Bringing food is not required. Bake/cook up a storm if you like, but your presence is the only thing that really matters to us! There will be plenty to share. We will also be making sure everyone adheres to food safety procedures, including washing/sanitising hands.

Are there regular lessons on the day?

No, the workshops will replace the regular lessons on 14th December.

When will food be served?

Food will be available 11:00am - 11:30am.

Can I come if I don't have any kids/relatives in the WMC programme?

Yep! If you love music, care about the community, and would like to see what local kids are doing at WMC, you're invited. Bring the kids and make some friends!

Can I still join in if I don't play an instrument?

Absolutely! We'll be teaching the words and melodies for everyone to sing along in the workshops.
