WMC Students Burn Down the House!

"Burning down the house!"

is a refrain that's been echoing around Wellington Music Centre for the last few months – you've probably heard it once or twice by now!

The line is from a Talking Heads song of the same name released in 1983, and has been a student favourite since we jammed it together at our most recent Community Day.

WMC Students Record at Massey

In July, some of our top guitar and percussion students braved the pouring rain to meet at Massey University. Their goal: to record their own version of Burning Down the House – and experience a recording session in a professional studio! The recording was a huge success, thanks in no small part to ex-teacher Jackson, who was our recording engineer for the day!

After the guitar and percussion parts were recorded, Jackson visited our own Miramar Kids Choir in rehearsal to add the finishing touch – the lyrics! The choir sang their hearts out, and it really showed in the recording!
